SL reports 400+ dengue cases in four days

Sri Lanka continues to grapple with a rising number of dengue cases, with 419 infections recorded in just the first four days of February, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.

As of February 3, the country has reported a total of 5,362 dengue cases and two related deaths in 2025. The Western Province remains the hardest hit, accounting for nearly half of the total cases (2,398), followed by the Southern Province (667) and the Eastern Province (604).

Colombo leads among the districts with 719 cases, while the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) area alone has recorded 651 cases.

Other high-burden districts include Gampaha (617) and Kalutara (435). In contrast, some districts, such as Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu, have reported minimal cases.

Health authorities have also identified 16 high-risk MOH areas for 2025, emphasizing the need for increased dengue prevention efforts.
