Sri Lanka Muslim civil society leaders met with key government officials yesterday to address longstanding concerns of the Muslim community and review steps the new administration is taking to resolve them.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Deputy Speaker Rizvi Salie, MP Aslam, and around 30 Muslim civil society representatives.

Minister Herath emphasized that the government is committed to national unity and will not tolerate any form of racial division or extremism. He assured that laws will be applied equally to all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or social standing.

He further noted the government’s openness to engage with all communities when shaping national policies, stressing the importance of inclusive governance.

Addressing foreign affairs, Herath reiterated Sri Lanka’s consistent diplomatic support for the rights of the Palestinian people, reaffirming the country’s long-standing position since the new administration assumed office.
