The BBC website has listed Sri Lanka among the top 25 places to visit this year, ranking it 9th.
Journalist Claire Turrell describes Sri Lanka as a destination offering misty mountain peaks, tea plantations, ancient temples, wild elephants, and surfing.
The ranking was part of the BBC’s first travel guide of the year, aimed at inspiring global travelers.
The BBC highlighted that these 25 destinations provide unique travel experiences while supporting local communities, protecting the environment, or preserving cultural heritage.
Dominica secured the top spot, followed by Japan’s Naoshima in second place and Italy’s Dolomites in third.
Oslo, the capital of Norway, was ranked at the 25th position in the list.
