
Sri Lanka has been ranked among the countries with no impacts from terrorism in the Global Terrorism Index 2025.
According to the latest report by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), Sri Lanka is ranked 100, a drop of 64 spots, but remains unaffected by terrorism.
Countries like Burkina Faso, Pakistan, and Syria top the list of nations experiencing very high terrorism impacts.
The report reveals that the number of countries experiencing at least one terrorist incident has increased from 58 to 66, marking the highest number since 2018.
In 2024, more countries saw a deterioration in terrorism impacts than improvement for the first time in seven years, with 45 countries reporting higher terrorism impacts, while only 34 showed improvement.
Out of 163 countries in the Global Terrorism Index, only 25 have not recorded a single terrorist incident since 2007.
