The Ministry of Power has announced plans to fast-track 100 stalled solar power projects, aiming to add 500 MW of capacity to the national grid within the year.
These projects include solar plants with capacities of up to 10 MW.
Minister Kumara Jayakody highlighted that delays were caused by issues such as deficiencies in approval documents.
In addition, the Ministry is reviewing 49 solar projects with a combined capacity of 4,000 MW.
A dedicated committee has been appointed to oversee the process and finalize electricity purchase agreements for the projects.
