The Sri Lankan Parliamentary Committee has approved the appointments of a new Ambassador and High Commissioner.
The government announced that Y.K. Gunasekara has been recommended as the new High Commissioner to Australia, while S.S. Dissanayake will be appointed as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Bahrain.
The official handover of these appointments will take place before the President at a later date.
Additionally, the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated steps last November to recall several High Commissioners and Ambassadors from various countries, including Australia, back to Sri Lanka.
