
Sri Lanka achieved a record-breaking export revenue of US$ 16.17 billion in 2024, according to the latest report from the Export Development Board (EDB).
This is the highest-ever export earnings in the country’s history, surpassing the previous record of US$ 15.72 billion in 2018.
The 2024 export revenue includes US$ 12.70 billion from merchandise exports and US$ 3.46 billion from services exports, showcasing strong sectoral performance.
Provisional data from Sri Lanka Customs revealed that merchandise exports for December 2024 reached US$ 1,042.5 million, a 4.06% increase compared to December 2023.
Growth in merchandise exports was driven by key sectors such as Apparel & Textiles, Tea, Rubber-based products, Coconut-based products, Spices & Concentrates, and Food & Beverages.
Services exports in December 2024 were estimated at US$ 322.92 million, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 29.96%.
Combined merchandise and services exports for December 2024 amounted to US$ 1,365.42 million, reflecting overall growth of 9.21% compared to the same month in 2023.
