Australia’s 2026–27 Skilled Visa nomination programs for Subclass 190 and 491 remain partially closed across several states and territories, leaving many applicants waiting for updates.

Victoria is yet to announce the opening date for its new migration program, while Queensland has closed its 2025–26 Registration of Interest intake as it awaits further guidance from the Federal Government.

Tasmania has already used all of its allocated places — including 1,200 Subclass 190 and 650 Subclass 491 nominations — and will reopen once new places are provided.

The Northern Territory has also reached its nomination limit, with pending applications to be considered after new 2026–27 allocations are released.

The ACT is preparing to launch its new Canberra Matrix system in the week starting July 27, while South Australia, New South Wales and Western Australia are yet to announce full details of their new programs.

Migration experts are advising skilled visa applicants to regularly check official state updates, keep their SkillSelect Expression of Interest and documents ready, and prepare for when nomination rounds reopen.
