Negotiations between the United National Party (UNP) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) for a potential unification ahead of the elections have been disrupted due to internal conflicts within the SJB.
Despite multiple rounds of discussions, the talks have reportedly reached a standstill.
The UNP has clarified that it has not withdrawn from the negotiations and remains open to further dialogue.
Meanwhile, SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayake recently announced his withdrawal from the talks, citing internal party issues as the reason.
