Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa on Friday donated a haemodialysis machine valued at Rs. 4.6 million to the Marawila Base Hospital under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s Husma health initiative.
The donation included a B-Braun Dialog+ haemodialysis machine and was aimed at strengthening healthcare services for communities affected by recent cyclone-related disasters.
Addressing the media at the event, Premadasa said that regardless of criticism, leaders must fulfil their responsibilities to the country and its people, especially during times of national crisis.
He noted that discussions had been held with foreign diplomats and representatives to seek international assistance for Sri Lanka’s recovery, emphasising that these engagements were conducted purely in the public interest.
Premadasa also reiterated the urgent need to convene an international donor conference to support post-disaster reconstruction, stating that recovery efforts would fall short of expected targets without strong global assistance.
