Sianna Ginger named in Australia A squad for England series

Sianna Ginger, a talented 19-year-old cricketer from Queensland with Sri Lankan heritage, has been named in the Australia A squad for the upcoming series against England A.

Ginger, who impressed in WBBL|10 while playing for Brisbane Heat, will have the opportunity to showcase her skills in the multi-format series.

Her selection highlights her rapid rise in Australian cricket, having competed against boys in junior cricket in North Queensland.

The Australia A series, along with the Green v Gold match, will allow 30 of Australia’s top domestic female players to prove themselves to national selectors.

The Green v Gold fixture, set to take place at Phillip Oval from March 12-14, will serve as a crucial platform for players to develop their red-ball skills.

Nicole Faltum and Charli Knott will lead the Green and Gold teams, respectively, while Heather Graham will captain the Australia A T20 squad.

The squads feature a mix of international experience and emerging talent, including WNCL stars Tahlia Wilson and Anika Learoyd.

National selector Shawn Flegler emphasized the importance of the series in identifying future Australian representatives, citing players like Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield as recent success stories.

Sianna Ginger’s inclusion in multiple squads underlines her potential as a future Australian cricketer, with the selectors eager to see how she performs at the higher level.

The series will conclude with a four-day match in Sydney, providing players with valuable long-format experience ahead of future international opportunities.
