
SSP Shani Abeysekara, Director of the Central Crime Investigation Bureau, has been appointed to a committee reviewing the Easter Sunday attack report.
The committee is chaired by Senior DIG Asanka Karawita, head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
It was formed by Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya, who is also an attorney-at-law.
Other members include DIG P. Ampavila, CID Director SSP I. Muthumala, and Terrorism Investigation Division Director SSP Kamal Perera.
Five sub-committees comprising SPs and ASPs have also been appointed to study the extensive report.
The Presidential Commission’s report spans over 67,400 pages, divided into five volumes and 87 books.
The Acting IGP has ordered a thorough review, directing legal action on any new findings based on the Attorney General’s advice.
Senior officers have been instructed to submit individual reports on any new revelations.
The report was officially handed to the CID following a directive from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
