Shammi Silva has been re-elected uncontested as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for a fourth term.
His reappointment was confirmed during the SLC Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today (31st), and he will serve a two-year term from 2025 to 2027.
In December last year, Silva succeeded India’s Jay Shah as the Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
A businessman, Silva had a public clash with then-Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe in 2023.
The minister’s decision to appoint an interim committee, reportedly due to a personal dispute with Silva, led to Sri Lanka’s suspension from the ICC.
As a result, the U-19 Men’s World Cup, originally set for Sri Lanka in January 2024, was relocated to South Africa.
Later, the sports minister was dismissed, and Silva’s SLC administration was reinstated by court order.
