As of yesterday morning (18th), Ausgrid reported that approximately 28,000 customers in Sydney are without electricity.
The total number of affected customers across New South Wales is around 40,000 due to severe weather conditions.
Around 12,000 residents in the Newcastle and Hunter areas are still waiting for their electricity to be restored.
The storm that hit last night caused electricity cables and trees to fall onto part of the roof of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
As a result of the storm, part of the roof at the SCG has been damaged.
Efforts to restore power and repair the damage caused by the storm are currently underway across the affected areas.
