Senior Iranian military, nuclear officials killed in Israeli strikes

Israeli airstrikes deep inside Iran have reportedly killed and wounded several high-ranking Iranian military and nuclear officials, marking a dramatic escalation in tensions between the two nations.

According to The New York Times, the strikes targeted at least six military sites near Tehran, including the highly sensitive Parchin military complex.

Residential areas within two heavily fortified compounds housing senior military commanders were also struck, alongside multiple apartment buildings — suggesting deliberate assassination attempts.

Among the confirmed fatalities is Major General Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as announced by Iranian state television.

Also killed were three top nuclear scientists, including Fereydoun Abbasi and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi — both known for their roles in Iran’s nuclear weapons development.

An Israeli intelligence source disclosed that Mossad simultaneously executed covert operations targeting Iran’s missile infrastructure and air defense systems as part of a broader offensive.

Meanwhile, Nour News, linked to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reported that Ali Shamkhani, a senior advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was gravely injured in a strike on his residence and is in critical condition.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar is holding discussions with global allies following the Israeli cabinet’s decision to neutralize what it calls “the threat of Iranian annihilation.”

All Israeli diplomatic missions have been placed on emergency alert to manage global political responses and media communications regarding the attack.

Codenamed “Strength of a Lion,” this unprecedented military operation reflects Israel’s heightened alarm over Iran’s accelerating nuclear ambitions and its repeated threats against Israel.
