

Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda has been appointed as the new Director General of Sri Lanka Customs, effective yesterday (26th), becoming the 45th head of the institution.

Arukgoda began his career with Sri Lanka Customs in 1989 as an Assistant Superintendent and has the unique distinction of being the first officer in the Department’s history to rise through every rank to reach the top position.
Over his 36-year career, he has earned recognition both locally and internationally, particularly through his involvement with the World Customs Organization (WCO). An accredited WCO expert, Arukgoda served two terms with the Organization, contributing to major global initiatives in Customs and Border Management and gaining extensive international experience.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Buckinghamshire New University in the United Kingdom and a Master’s Degree in Customs Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of Management at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
