A school principal in the Akuramboda area has been arrested in connection with an alleged abuse incident involving a student.
The complaint was made to the National Child Protection Authority by the father of a Grade 9 student, who alleged that his child was abused by the principal.
Acting on information from the authority, officers from Mahawela Police arrested the suspect. Police also confirmed that the student was admitted to hospital for medical treatment following the incident.
The 50-year-old principal is expected to be produced before the Naula Magistrate’s Court for further legal proceedings.
