Saudi Passenger arrested for assaulting flight attendants on SriLankan Airlines flight

A 28-year-old Saudi national has been arrested for assaulting two flight attendants on a SriLankan Airlines flight from Riyadh to Colombo.

The incident took place on flight UL-266, which landed at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 6:32 a.m. today (26). The passenger, who was in transit to Malaysia, reportedly attempted to use the restroom while the aircraft was preparing to land—a time when passengers are required to remain seated with seat belts fastened.

When the flight attendants intervened, the passenger became aggressive and assaulted them. The crew then informed the pilot, who alerted airport authorities. Upon landing, officers from the Katunayake Airport Police apprehended the suspect.

The Katunayake Airport Police, together with the Katunayake Airport Tourist Police, have launched a joint investigation into the incident. Since it occurred within Sri Lankan airspace, the Saudi national is expected to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court No. 01 today (27th).
