

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has welcomed the reported agreement between the United States and Iran, saying it highlights the importance of dialogue as a powerful tool for resolving global conflicts.,

In a post on ‘X’, Premadasa said Sri Lanka understands both the cost of division and the value of reconciliation, noting that peace goes beyond the absence of war and must include hope, dignity, opportunity, and a better future for the next generation.
He added that people around the world deserve lasting peace, concluding his message with the words, “May peace prevail.”
His comments came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Washington had reached an agreement with Tehran, including the lifting of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports.
The development follows months of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, with the United States playing a key role in facilitating renewed negotiations with Tehran.
