Sajith promises free legal aid for victims of online loan mafia through SJB

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa announced that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will provide free legal services to victims of the online loan scheme, which he described as an “illegal mafia.”

He recalled that the SJB had raised its voice in Parliament when details of this online loan mafia first surfaced a few years ago, prompting the then government to introduce new bills to address the issue.

However, Premadasa stressed that the online loan mafia continues to operate in harmful ways, especially as ongoing economic difficulties have created conditions for such schemes to thrive.

He revealed that he possesses detailed information about the institutions involved in this network and said the SJB will form a dedicated team of lawyers to provide free legal assistance to those affected.

“By engaging our legal team, we will ensure that those behind this illegal activity are held accountable. We assure all affected people not to worry — we will definitely step forward to help you,” Premadasa pledged.
