Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today called on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to establish a dedicated Ministry for Disaster Management to oversee disaster prevention and response efforts.
Speaking to the media after visiting people affected by the disaster in Ibbagamuwa, Kurunegala District, Premadasa stressed the need for proper coordination among key institutions responsible for disaster prevention, including the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and the National Building Research Organisation, in order to effectively mitigate disasters.
