Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S.M. Marikkar has been appointed as the Chairman of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development.
This committee plays a vital role in reviewing legislation, treaties, and reports related to infrastructure and strategic development.
It holds the authority to examine any Bill—except those specified under Article 152 of the Constitution—relevant to its subject area.
The committee also reviews annual and performance reports of institutions under its purview.
Additionally, the committee can consider matters referred to it by Parliament, other committees, or ministers concerning infrastructure and strategic development.
