A high-level delegation from the Russian Federation, led by Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on May 3 for a three-day official visit.

During the visit, the Russian delegation will hold discussions with Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector between Russia and Sri Lanka.

They are also expected to meet Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath for further talks on expanding diplomatic and sectoral collaboration.

On May 4, Minister Murashko and his delegation will conduct inspection visits to the National Hospital of Colombo and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Colombo to observe healthcare and medical education facilities.

According to the Health Ministry, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit to formalize cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions will focus on expanding collaboration in key areas such as pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, advanced medical training, academic exchanges including student and faculty programs, as well as Ayurveda and health tourism.
