Rs. 1,000 million allocated for new national drinking water projects

The government has allocated Rs. 1,000 million to improve urban and rural drinking water supply across the country.

The funds will be used to construct a new water supply system in Ambatale to meet the growing demand in the Colombo District, and to upgrade and establish new water facilities in Kolonnawa and Nugegoda-Jubilee Post.

Additionally, a new water project will be developed in Lunugamvehera, Hambantota District, to provide drinking water to communities facing scarcity and to support the growth of production-oriented industries in the region.

These initiatives are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure safe and reliable water supply while fostering economic development in affected areas.
