
Sri Lanka recorded strong growth in workers’ remittances in January 2026, receiving US$751.1 million, an increase of US$178.1 million compared to US$573.0 million received in the same month last year, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
In contrast, tourism earnings showed a slight decline, with the country generating US$378.3 million in January 2026, reflecting a 5.6% decrease from US$400.7 million recorded in January 2025.
