In Australia, patients benefit from rapid recovery thanks to the availability of blood and plasma donations.
The Red Cross Lifeblood service is experiencing a critical shortage of blood and plasma during the holiday season, a time when donor numbers typically decline.
This year, demand for blood and plasma is exceptionally high, heightening the urgency for donations.
In Canberra, more than 100 blood and plasma donors are required daily from 18th of December to 2nd January to address the shortage.
A Lifeblood mobile donation center will be available at Garema Place on Christmas Eve and in Gungahlin starting 26th December.
The Lifeblood center will also operate on Christmas morning, while the plasma donation center in Civic will remain open every day except Christmas.
