Recent report on the population of Australia

According to the latest figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Australia’s population will grow by 2.1 per cent to 30th of June 2024.

The agency’s head of community affairs, Beidar Cho, said: “Australia’s population was 27.2 million by 30 June 2024, an increase of 552,000 people from the same time last year.

The number of foreign migrant arrivals this year is 666,800 and 221,200 departures have been recorded.

It showed a recent decline in net overseas migration, adding 445,600 to the Australian population for the year to 30 June 2024.

According to new births and deaths, the natural increase in population is recorded at 106,400 persons, which is an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the previous year.

During the same period, 289,100 new births and 182,700 deaths were registered, while births decreased by 0.7 percent and deaths by 2.9 percent.
