RBA cuts rates to 4.1%, first drop in 4 years

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has cut interest rates for the first time in four years, lowering the cash rate to 4.1%.

This decision follows a period of stability, with rates held at 4.35% since November 2023—the highest level in 13 years.

After a two-day meeting in Sydney, the RBA board opted for a 0.25 percentage point reduction in the cash rate.
