Rapper Madhava Prasad has been arrested in Homagama for possession of a fake pistol and narcotics, police reported.
The arrest came after a video circulated on Facebook showing six men consuming drugs with a firearm nearby. Authorities took the 26-year-old into custody at a housing complex in Homagama.
During questioning, the suspect admitted that the video was posted online to increase his social media following. Police seized 20 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine (ice) and 35 grams of hashish from his possession.
He is scheduled to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court.
