Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe visited Kandy yesterday morning (23) to pay homage to the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters and to seek their blessings.
During the visit, he met the Mahanayaka of the Malwathu Chapter, Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero, and later called on the Mahanayaka of the Asgiri Chapter, Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero.
Reports indicate that Wickremesinghe discussed the current political situation in the country during these meetings with the Maha Nayaka Theros.
Subsequently, when questioned by journalists on political issues, he stated briefly that he is no longer engaged in active politics.
