Former Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne has stated that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe currently has no plans to return to Parliament.

Speaking during a political programme on a private television channel on Thursday (4), Senaratne also said that international credit rating agencies have warned of potential economic risks and political instability under the current government.
He dismissed recent media reports suggesting that Wickremesinghe was preparing a political comeback with the support of defecting MPs, describing them as unfounded speculation. However, he alleged that internal divisions do exist within the government, claiming that a group of 15 members, including MPs and ministers, have already submitted letters expressing their positions.
Senaratne further claimed that Wickremesinghe had privately stated he has no intention of working with the current administration. He also praised Wickremesinghe’s past leadership, saying he had helped guide a bankrupt country toward economic recovery within a year, and suggested that public support could shift again if the present government fails to deliver results.
