Rajitha Senaratne files new petition seeking bail in ongoing legal case

The Colombo High Court has scheduled a hearing for 30th of September to consider a petition filed by former Minister Rajitha Senaratne seeking to overturn a Magistrate’s Court decision denying him bail.

The petition was taken up on July 24 before High Court Judge Indrika Kalinga Vansa, who noted that the required certified copy of the Magistrate’s Court order had not been submitted.

Judge Vansa stated that no decision could be made until the certified copy of the lower court’s bail rejection is provided.

President’s Counsel Maithri Gunaratne, representing Senaratne, was instructed to furnish the necessary documentation to proceed with the case.

As a result, the High Court adjourned the hearing until September 30, pending submission of the missing court document.
