The Department of Railways has initiated an investigation following a viral video showing foreign tourists receiving massages inside a train carriage.
General Manager of Railways, Dhammika Jayasundara, clarified that the train had been rented by a private entity for tourism purposes.
While organizations can rent trains for a fee, the Department of Railways was not informed about the massage activities.
Jayasundara emphasized that the incident occurred on a privately rented train, not on one used for regular operations.
He further stated that an investigation is underway with the involvement of the Tourist Police, and measures will be taken to recover losses from those responsible.
