Radiation treatments at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital have been disrupted following an electrical system malfunction, according to Chanaka Dharmawickrama, President of the Government Radiological Technologists Association.
Since 31st of December, three key machines used for cancer patient examinations were out of service. Although two of the machines have since been repaired, one remains non-operational.
Each machine typically provides critical radiation therapy to approximately 60 cancer patients daily, highlighting the significant impact of this disruption on patient care.
