Queensland faces higher flood risk, public warned again

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast heavy rain across Queensland until Thursday, increasing the risk of severe flooding.

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has urged residents in flood-affected areas to evacuate immediately and not take unnecessary risks.

Floods have already claimed the life of a 63-year-old woman and destroyed approximately 1,200 homes.

Residents in Townsville and Ingham continue to endure severe flooding and are advised to remain highly vigilant.

The Premier emphasized that many accidents have occurred due to people ignoring weather warnings.

Authorities have restricted access to certain areas as water levels in the Ross River, Queensland’s largest dam, continue to rise.

Officials are again urging the public to follow evacuation orders and warnings as heavy rain persists.

The Murray River, Herbert River, Bohle River, and Upper Burdekin River have also been identified as high-risk areas.
