The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has introduced a QR code system to simplify the process of obtaining a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, Ms. R.P.G.H. Fernando announced.
Using the QR code, individuals can easily verify whether they are already registered with a TIN. If not, the system will guide them on how to obtain one by contacting the department.
This initiative is part of the IRD’s broader efforts to enhance tax administration and promote compliance. So far, over 10 million TINs have been issued to the public.
