Notably, Qantas flight QF168, which originally departed from Christchurch International Airport in New Zealand, was rerouted during its trip to Melbourne.
The flight took off from Christchurch this morning, but less than two hours later, it returned to the same airport.
According to a Qantas spokesperson, the pilots initially decided to return due to a fault in the aircraft’s radio system.
After addressing the radio issue, the plane resumed its journey to Melbourne.
However, near the Tasman Sea, the pilots made another diversion back to Christchurch International Airport.
Reports suggest that the second diversion was prompted by an unusual odor detected in the aircraft cabin.
Engineers are currently investigating the source of the odor to determine the cause.
