The Minister of Science and Technology, Chrishantha Abeyasena, has stated that the Provincial Council elections will definitely be held within this year.
He made these remarks while speaking to the media in Kandy on May 15, reaffirming the government’s position that the elections will not be delayed.
However, the Minister noted that he is unable to specify the exact timeframe for when the elections will take place, saying that the process is being handled by the relevant authorities.
He further emphasized that concerns about delays are unfounded, stating that the government maintains a firm commitment to holding the Provincial Council elections within the year, although the precise schedule will be announced later.
