Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, during her official visit to the United Kingdom, told Sri Lankans living in London that her government has succeeded in stabilizing the country’s economy while also providing relief to the public, despite facing natural disasters and global economic challenges.

She said Sri Lanka’s political culture has undergone a positive and irreversible transformation, marking the beginning of a new chapter in governance.
The Prime Minister made these remarks at a meeting with nearly 1,000 Sri Lankans representing Sinhala, Tamil, and Muslim communities.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the event saw a large turnout even though it was held on a weekday, reflecting strong community interest.
PM Amarasuriya also engaged directly with attendees, highlighting the importance of unity and resilience in overcoming national challenges while reaffirming the government’s commitment to continued progress.
Addressing the gathering, Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Paulraj stated that Sri Lanka now has a governance system where all communities are treated equally and the benefits of economic development are shared fairly among citizens.
The event, which departed from traditional political meetings, also provided an open platform for members of the Sri Lankan diaspora to directly raise questions and share their views with the Prime Minister and the Minister.
The organizing committee noted that all expenses, including dinner, were fully covered by the participants themselves.
