Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S.M. Marikkar warned today that the recent fuel price hike will trigger increases in the cost of other goods and services.
He explained that the price of rice is expected to rise as transport costs are passed on by middlemen, while the cost of fish will also increase due to higher fuel expenses for fishing boats.
Marikkar added, “The people’s expectations have been lost,” highlighting growing public frustration over rising living costs.
