President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that his government will not extend political protection to anyone involved in drug trafficking.
Speaking at the launch of the Northern Province programme of the national operation ‘Ratama Ekata’ (A Nation United), the President said investigations have uncovered links between certain inefficient government officials and drug smuggling syndicates.
He issued a strong warning to those involved, calling on such officials to immediately cut ties with illegal activities or step down from their positions.
