
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced plans for structural reforms in Sri Lanka Customs to modernize its institutional framework.
During a discussion at the Presidential Secretariat on Budget 2025 and institutional restructuring, he addressed issues such as inefficiencies, fraud, corruption, and public dissatisfaction.
To tackle these challenges, the President emphasized adopting new technologies to improve efficiency and service delivery.
He also directed officials to enforce strict laws to eliminate inefficiencies and accelerate human resource management, recruitment, and infrastructure development.
Additionally, he acknowledged Customs’ revenue achievements from the previous year and outlined necessary measures to meet this year’s targets.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including the Minister of Labour, the Finance Secretary, and the Director General of Sri Lanka Customs.
