President Directs Tourism Authority to Support Foreign Tourists Amid Disaster.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has instructed the Tourism Authority to take all necessary measures to efficiently provide essential services to foreign tourists facing difficulties due to the ongoing emergency disaster situation in the country.
The President made these remarks during a National Disaster Management Council meeting held last night at the Ministry of Defence, as confirmed by the President’s Media Division (PMD).
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, who attended the meeting, inquired about the measures in place to ensure the safety of tourists currently in Sri Lanka and suggested appointing a committee to engage with foreign governments to inform them about the ongoing emergency and the steps being taken to protect their citizens.
The meeting focused on coordinated response efforts to address the widespread emergency caused by adverse weather conditions across the country.
The President also directed security forces and relevant officials to take all possible measures to safeguard public lives and ensure uninterrupted relief services during the crisis.
