
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has written to U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the recently imposed reciprocal tariffs on Sri Lankan imports to the United States, Labour Minister Anil Jayantha Fernando informed Parliament today.
He stated that the White House has officially acknowledged receipt of the President’s letter. In the letter, President Dissanayake outlined possible measures to mitigate the impact of the tariffs and proposed actions that Sri Lanka could take to address the issue.
The letter also included a request for greater collaboration between the two countries to reduce the imposed tariffs. Minister Fernando made these remarks in response to a question raised by MP Ravi Karunanayake.
