President says public funds were previously misused to support extremism

President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, revealed that intelligence officers had informed him about instances where public tax money had previously been used to fund extremist elements.

He made these remarks while attending the JVP’s 36th Commemoration of November Heroes (Il Maha Viru Samaruma), held today (13) at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre in Colombo.

The President further stated that the current government has successfully established a predictable and stable economy.

He also noted that state revenue has surpassed the expected targets under the present administration.

The 36th Commemoration of November Heroes, organized by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), took place at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre, with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the party’s leader, gracing the event as the chief guest.

During the ceremony, floral tributes were offered in remembrance of the JVP founder, Rohana Wijeweera, and other members of the party who lost their lives.
