
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake praised the humility, intelligence, and public service dedication of Dr. Manmohan Singh, calling him an inspiration for future generations.
In a special message on ‘X,’ President Dissanayake expressed his deepest condolences to India, Singh’s family, and his global supporters.
The President highlighted Dr. Singh’s significant contributions, including the Right to Education Act and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Programme, which reflected his commitment to equality and inclusion.
Dr. Singh’s diplomatic efforts, including the India-US nuclear deal and his role in establishing BRICS, were also recognized by the President.
Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe paid his respects to the late Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on 27th December and expressed condolences to his wife, Gursharan Kaur Kohli.
During his visit to India, Ranil Wickremesinghe also had a brief conversation with Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi at Singh’s residence in New Delhi.
