
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, on his official visit to Japan, met JICA President Dr. Tanaka Akihiko at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo yesterday morning (30), where it was confirmed that the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) project in Katunayake will resume soon.
The President thanked Japan for its continued assistance, especially the resumption of concessional yen loans through JICA.
Dr. Tanaka highlighted the importance of strengthening Sri Lanka’s private sector, industry, and agriculture as pillars of sustainable economic growth. He assured that JICA would continue long-term cooperation while closely monitoring Sri Lanka’s macroeconomic management.
The discussions also covered the implementation of the Waste Management Plan in the Western Province.
