President invites School Development Officers to sit teaching service exam

At the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, a meeting was held this morning (03) at the Presidential Secretariat between the President and representatives of the School Development Officers’ Association.

During the discussion, the representatives stated that responsibility for the issue does not rest with either the current government or themselves. However, they highlighted that, as professionals, they are currently facing a range of professional and social challenges.

The President engaged in a lengthy discussion on the matter and emphasized that it is the government’s objective to safeguard the professional pride and dignity of all those concerned. He further stated that the government aims to integrate degree-holding professionals with teaching experience into the teaching service. Accordingly, he invited eligible officers to sit for the examination in line with the Sri Lanka Teachers Service Minute.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Senior Additional Secretary Kapila Janaka Bandara, Director General of Public Relations at the Presidential Secretariat Dharmasiri Gamage, and senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, including Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa.
