
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is on an official visit to Germany, met with the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Ms. Reem Alabali-Radovan, at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Berlin on Thursday .
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), the discussion focused on shared economic challenges faced by both countries amidst evolving global economic trends.
Both sides held extensive talks on strengthening economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Germany, with particular emphasis on deepening collaboration in key sectors.
President Dissanayake expressed appreciation for Germany’s longstanding support, especially in vocational education through institutions like the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI), as well as in healthcare development.
He emphasized the need to transform this historic cooperation into future-oriented, mutually beneficial partnerships.
Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Germany Varuni Muthukumarana, and other senior officials including Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, Director General for Europe and North America at the Foreign Ministry, also participated in the meeting.
