President Anura Kumara Dissanayake hinted at progress in US tariff talks during a rally in Ratnapura.
He described the recent discussions with the US as “fruitful,” with a joint statement expected soon.
The talks followed a high-level meeting in Washington on 22nd of April with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
Deputy Minister Anil Jayantha Fernando confirmed the meeting was arranged after a letter exchange with the US.
The Sri Lankan delegation included top officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Finance.
Details of the negotiations remain undisclosed, but relief measures may be outlined in the upcoming statement.
